Energy Tax Equity
Meet the Team >Practice Overview
Greenberg Traurig’s global team of tax and transactional attorneys have represented some of the largest sponsors, investors, developers, lenders, and manufacturers in the energy sector across six continents. We routinely structure and close transactions for energy projects relying on subsidies, grants, and tax benefits. In the United States, our attorneys are skilled advisors in the renewables and alternative energy space, representing tax equity investors and sponsors in transactions monetizing the U.S. federal investment tax credit (ITC) and production tax credit (PTC), as well as depreciation benefits. We regularly represent clients utilizing partnership flips (both time-based and yield-based), sale-leasebacks, and inverted or pass-through leases. Our attorneys worked with one of the largest financial institutions in the industry to create what has become one of the largest renewable energy tax credit syndications business in the United States, with an estimated $3.2 billion+ of third-party equity.
We understand what it takes to close a tax equity transaction, and our attorneys are thought leaders in the space. The GT team is regularly recognized in global rankings, including Chambers and Legal 500.
