DENVER (June 6, 2014) – The international law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP has brought Michael R. McGinnis on as a shareholder where he will focus his practice in Public Finance. McGinnis will advise large governmental entities, including airports, public utilities, educational institutions, water authorities, municipalities, cities and metropolitan districts on finance issues. McGinnis also serves as counsel to airport-related businesses; including rental car companies regarding airport consolidated facilities financings as well as concession and lease agreements. In these transactions, he regularly counsels clients in the capacity of bond, disclosure, underwriter’s or special counsel.
McGinnis will also cross-over into the firm’s Corporate & Securities practice providing guidance on complex commercial transactions including developing legal structures and strategies for companies and other service orientated entities.
"We are excited to add Mike to our public finance team in Denver. His knowledge of public funding alternatives and ability to translate those alternatives into clear, concise outcomes for his clients is immeasurably valuable as large-scale projects continue to be in demand and are often required to compete for limited resources," said David G. Palmer, managing shareholder of the firm’s Denver office.
When not actively serving client needs, McGinnis serves on the board of several organizations in the metro area, including Adams County Economic Development as chair, and the Metro Denver Aviation Coalition, as well as many others. He also participates in the American Association of Airport Executives and Airports Council International–North America organizations.
He earned his J.D., with distinction, from the University of Iowa College of Law in 1982 and a B.A., with distinction, also from the University of Iowa in 1979.
