MIAMI (Sept. 28, 2016) – The Latin American and Iberian Practice of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP received the International Counsel in Latin America Award in the Florida-based category for Corporate & Finance during the Chambers and Partners 8th Annual Latin America Awards for Excellence ceremony held Sept. 16th in Miami. This is the second consecutive year that the firm’s Latin American and Iberian Practice was chosen as the winner of this category.
“We’re thrilled to be recognized by Chambers in this category for the second year in a row,” said Yosbel Ibarra, Co-Chair of Greenberg Traurig’s Latin American and Iberian Practice. “Given that the award is based in part on client feedback, we’re especially thankful to our clients.”
The Chambers Latin America Awards for Excellence recognizes firms working in Latin America that have emerged as leaders in a jurisdiction or area of law over the past 12 months. Winners are selected based on a rigorous evaluation process that includes the collection of client feedback, a review of the law firm’s strategic growth, and the significance and complexity of the deals the firm has worked on over the last year.
“I am so proud of the Latin American and Iberian Practice team we’ve built, whose unparalleled talent and diversity of expertise allows us to stay at the forefront of changing market trends,” said Patricia Menéndez-Cambó, Vice Chair of Greenberg Traurig, who also serves as Chair of the firm’s Global Practice and the Corporate & Securities Practice. “This award is a testament to the tireless efforts of this team of attorneys who consistently strive to meet our clients’ growing demands in the region.”
Greenberg Traurig has been a finalist for the Chambers Latin America Awards for Excellence every year that the award has been given and was the winner in one or more categories in 2009, 2010, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2016. In 2014, the firm was recognized by Chambers as the Corporate/M&A Law Firm of the Year in the International Counsel in Latin America category. In addition, the firm’s attorneys and practice areas consistently receive top recognition in the various guides published by Chambers and Partners, including Chambers USA, Chambers Global and Chambers Latin America.
Greenberg Traurig’s Latin American and Iberian team includes attorneys located in the firm’s Chicago, Los Angeles, Dallas, Mexico City, Miami, and New York offices. Many of the attorneys previously served as chief legal officers and regional counsel for multinational companies including multilatinas in various industries, such as telecommunications, banking, energy, infrastructure and hospitality.
