2 Greenberg Traurig Attorneys Honored as Cablefax Top Lawyers

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Feb. 22, 2018 – Barbara Meili and Tom F. Shebar of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP have been named two of Cablefax’s Top Lawyers of 2018. The award recognizes the top legal minds in the cable industry. They will be honored at an awards dinner Mar. 19, at The National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

Meili, chair of the firm’s New York Entertainment and Media Practice, focuses her practice on representing clients in the U.S. and international video distribution industry, including counseling clients in virtually all aspects of license and distribution arrangements for traditional and emerging distribution technologies, and related merger and acquisition activity and regulatory issues. Her concentrations include cable television and digital media distribution agreements, retransmission consent agreements, regulatory issues, and license and distribution agreements. Meili was named a Top Lawyer by Cablefax in 2017. She has also been listed in Chambers & Partners USA Guide, The Legal 500 United States, and The Best Lawyers in America, among others. Meili serves as a member of the American Bar Association, the Bar of the City of New York, and Women in Cable & Telecommunications.

Shebar, resident in the firm’s Denver office, focuses his practice on the representation of television programmers in traditional and digital media distribution arrangements, data and technology licensing, and related M&A and commercial matters. His concentrations include content acquisition & distribution agreements, retransmission consent agreements, technology development and licensing arrangements, data licensing and matching agreements and consulting, and software development agreements. Prior to joining the firm, Shebar was a director and senior corporate counsel at DISH Network, serving as lead programming and media sales counsel for DISH Network and senior media, technology and business development counsel for Sling TV.
