Steven Laxton is an experienced patent litigation attorney with experience at the intersection of law, technology, and engineering. As an associate in the Intellectual Property Litigation Practice, Steven focuses on complex disputes involving cutting-edge technology, intellectual property enforcement, and technical innovations. He combines robust legal acumen with hands-on technical knowledge, offering strategic approaches tailored to his clients’ needs. His technical experience includes litigation involving electronics, consumer devices, website and mobile application software, and electric hydraulic fracturing.

Steven’s career is distinguished by his ability to bridge the gap between technical complexity and legal strategy. His background enables him to grasp intricate technical details and translate them into compelling legal arguments. This technical background includes academic research at Texas A&M in fiber optics, photonic integrated circuits, micro and nanofabrication, and other device sciences and methods of fabrication.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Steven gained experience by serving as a judicial law clerk for Magistrate Judge Roy S. Payne in the Eastern District of Texas, Marshall Division.

  • Customer service entity: Counsel for customer service entity in inter partes review proceedings.°
  • Home improvement retailer: Counsel for home improvement retailer in patent infringement case in the Eastern District of Texas. The patented technology included mobile application functionality.°
  • Banking entity: Counsel for banking entity in several patent infringement cases against various plaintiffs in the Eastern District of Texas. The patented technology included mobile application functionality; data processing.°
  • ProFrac: Counsel for ProFrac in pre-acquisition patent portfolio analysis; potential pre-suit investigations; and several patent infringement cases and inter partes review proceedings against Halliburton in the Western District of Texas. The patented technology involved electric hydraulic fracturing systems and methods. The first case went to trial, resulting in findings of non-infringement of every Halliburton patent asserted against ProFrac and findings of invalidity of nearly every Halliburton patent asserted against ProFrac.°
