On November 9-10, the California Lawyers Association (CLA) will host the 45th Annual IP Institute: Shifting Tides - Intellectual Property in a Changing World. The IP Institute, CLA's annual flagship program, will take place virtually and speakers will cover up-to-date case law, practice guidance, and current views on state-of-the-art and developing areas in intellectual property during these changing times.
On November 9 at 9:10 a.m. PST, GT's Scott J. Bornstein (NY), Co-Managing Shareholder of the New York office, Co-Chair of the Global Intellectual Property & Technology Practice, and Co-Chair of the firm's Global Patent Litigation Group, will moderate the session, "Navigating Uncharted Waters: Intellectual Property in the Evolving Geopolitical Landscape." As geopolitical issues evolve, so do their impact on intellectual property trends, and vice versa. This panel will discuss the interplay between geopolitics and current IP trends, technological innovation, and intellectual property law and policy. Among other issues, the panel will discuss the Innovation Competition Act, as well as how IP trends are shaped by recent global events, such as the US-China Trade policy, IP piracy, ransomware and cybersecurity, adoption of AI-enabled technologies, and Covid-19 vaccine collaboration and diplomacy.
