A Guide To New Russia Sanctions For Foreign Financial Cos.

On Dec. 22, 2023, President Joe Biden issued[1] an executive order that takes new steps against the Russian Federation for its aggression abroad.[2]

Among other things, Executive Order No. 14114 authorizes the U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control to impose sanctions on foreign financial institutions supporting Russia's war effort by, directly or indirectly, engaging in specified transactions, and implements a ban on importing seafood, alcoholic beverages and diamonds of Russian origin into the U.S.
