CHICAGO (May 9, 2014) –Shareholder Sean Bezark from the Chicago office of the international law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP spoke at the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Section of Real Property, Trusts & Estate Law Spring Symposia. This year’s Symposia took place May 1-2 at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago, Illinois. The annual event offers an insider’s view of the latest developments in real estate.
Bezark, a member of the firm’s Real Estate and Environmental Practice Groups, spoke on the Environmental Risk Mitigation in Real Estate Transactions panel. Topics included the challenges of a contaminated property including environmental insurance, contractual protections, liability transfer, due diligence, cleanup programs, dealing with regulatory entities, and statutory defenses.
Bezark focuses his practice primarily on environmental matters for public corporations, privately held companies, banks, lenders, REITs and private equity investment funds. He advises clients on environmental aspects of corporate and real estate transactions, bankruptcy cases, environmental investigations and remediation projects, brownfields development, insurance procurement and risk and cost allocations. He also counsels clients on legal and technical aspects of complex contamination remediation projects and in obtaining reimbursement from insurance companies, indemnitors, real estate and corporate predecessors and third parties.
