ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 9, 2015) – Alan C. Sheppard Jr., a shareholder in the Orlando office of international law firm Greenberg Traurig was recently elected President of the Florida chapter of the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties (NAIOP). The organization is considered the nation’s leading commercial real estate and development trade association. In his role as President of the NAIOP Florida Board of Directors, Sheppard will lead the organization in its mission to provide legislative and governmental representation for its five member chapters throughout the state. His one-year term began in January 2015.
As a shareholder in the real estate department at Greenberg Traurig, Sheppard has wide-ranging experience in all areas of commercial real estate finance and development, as well as land use and zoning. He regularly counsels developers in the acquisition and development of real property for office, industrial, residential and mixed use transactions. He also represents builders and developers of residential subdivisions and multi-family housing developments in the development and entitlement process.
Sheppard is a Past President of the Central Florida chapter of NAIOP, and he previously served as the NAIOP Florida President in 2004. Sheppard also is currently serving a three-year term on the National NAIOP Board of Directors.
Sheppard received his law degree from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and his bachelor's degree from Texas Christian University. Sheppard has a Master of Laws, in Taxation from the University of Alabama School of Law.
