Berlin, Febraury 28, 2018 – Greenberg Traurig, LLP has appointed four partners and one counsel in Germany, effective as of Jan. 1, 2018.
· Wencke Bäsler, partner in real estate M&A
· Kati Beckmann, partner in corporate finance and investment funds
· Niklas Conrad, partner in litigation and arbitration
· Anika Mitzkait, partner in real estate finance
· Carsten Kociok, counsel in data protection and FinTech
This is the largest class of attorneys Greenberg Traurig has promoted to partner in Germany. The firm has elevated a total of six attorneys to partner since the opening of its German office in autumn 2015. With three new female partners this year, women partners in the firm’s Germany office increase to almost 30 percent, which is well above the current market average of around 10 percent.
“As part of our growth strategy, we are exploring new business areas in the field of corporate finance and investment funds, litigation, data protection, and FinTech, while expanding our market position in the real estate industry. Just like our partner elevations from the last two years, all candidates come from within our own ranks. These elevations speak to the development of our associates and Greenberg Traurig’s ability to offer career opportunities to young talents. I am particularly pleased to welcome another three women to our partnership,” said Christian Schede, managing partner of Greenberg Traurig Germany.
By promoting Wencke Bäsler, Greenberg Traurig Germany expands its offering to the real estate industry. The focus area of her practice is M&A transactions and real estate management. Wencke advises national and international investors on the acquisition and sale of real estate companies and portfolios.
Kati Beckmann is a highly experienced finance attorney. She focuses on corporate finance, national and cross-border fund structuring including advice on investment law issues. Kati advises sponsors, funds, private equity investors, corporations, banks, and alternative lenders from Germany and abroad.
Niklas Conrad is a litigation partner focusing on complex and often cross-border disputes, post-M&A litigation, as well as extrajudicial conflict resolution and strategic consulting. His clients include leading German and foreign companies from the e-commerce, life sciences, media and telecommunications, technology, construction, and real estate industries.
Anika Mitzkait strengthens the banking and finance group with a focus on real estate finance. She represents domestic and foreign banks as well as private and institutional investors and developers in financial transactions of all asset classes. Anika’s expertise also includes refinancing, financial restructuring, and loan sales.
Counsel Carsten Kociok focuses on the areas of financial and payment services, data protection and data security, as well as IT and internet. He covers both civil law and regulatory aspects of FinTech, e-business, franchising, outsourcing, and technology transactions.
