Ivanhoe moderated the session, which covered key shifts in the real estate sector. The attorney panel discussed notable trends set for 2021 and beyond: the accelerated industrial and hospitality asset classes, the impact of increased and likely prolonged remote working in large urban areas like New York, the shift in real estate from private to public, and how the Biden Administration is expected to affect the market.

Ivanhoe is senior chairman of the firm’s Global Real Estate practice and co-chair of the firm’s REIT practice. Markovic also represents lenders and borrowers in construction, mezzanine, bridge and permanent financings, as well as restructurings and workouts.

Ahuja focuses her practice on hotel acquisitions, operations, development and finance, hotel management agreements, licensing agreements, and commercial real estate acquisition and sale. She advises domestic and international clients on the acquisition and disposition of hotels and other commercial property, hotel management and operations, franchising, licensing and branding, restaurant management agreements, lease negotiations, and casino agreements. Ahuja regularly prepares and negotiates purchase and sale agreements, financing and development agreements, and other documents related to the acquisition, financing, development, leasing, management, and disposition of real and personal property, with a focus on hotels and resorts.

Light, who focuses his practice on real estate transactions and development, has 30 years of domestic and international experience. Representing major retailers, property owners, developers and lenders, he regularly handles all aspects of complex commercial real estate transactions, including joint ventures, financings, and the acquisition and disposition of commercial property. Additionally, Light has been involved in the representation of major retail developers in a number of large retail bankruptcies and in the related acquisition and disposition of large portfolios of retail properties.
