Greenberg Traurig’s Caroline J. Heller Named New York Law Journal’s 2022 Attorney of the Year Finalist

Richard C. Kim Named to Rising Stars List

NEW YORK – Oct. 18, 2022 – Two attorneys from global law firm Greenberg Traurig LLP’s New York office were honored at the prestigious 2022 New York Law Journal (NYLJ) awards. Caroline J. Heller, chair of the firm’s Global Pro Bono program, was an Attorney of The Year finalist and Richard C. Kim, co-chair of the firm’s Global Finance Practice and co-chair of the New York Corporate Practice, was named a Rising Star. NYLJ honorees were recognized Oct. 6th at the Marriott Marquis in New York City.

Caroline J. Heller Recognized as Finalist for Attorney of the Year

A distinguished commercial litigator, Heller has been the chair of the firm’s global pro bono program since 2015 and has led herculean efforts to help refuges during worldwide humanitarian crises, including extensive efforts with refugees from Ukraine, Afghanistan, and other countries. In addition, Heller’s pro bono work spans the spectrum of helping those in need including immigrants, individuals who are involved in the criminal justice system, children with disabilities, veterans, and those who serve in the military. Heller said she has a unique opportunity to use the firm’s “incredible resources” to collaborate with nonprofit organizations to effect change through pro bono work.

NYLJ’s Rising Stars list comprises New York’s most promising lawyers 40 and younger based on the impact or innovative nature of their work, the significance of the issues at stake in their work, practice area, diversity, and pro bono work.

Richard Kim represents private equity sponsors, public and private borrowers, lead arrangers, and lenders in connection with debt financings, with particular emphasis on acquisition financings and other secured financings.

Kim also serves as co-hiring chair and co-career development liaison for Greenberg Traurig’s New York office and leads mentoring programs organized by Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York and National Asian Pacific American Bar Association as a volunteer.

His pro bono work includes negotiating a credit facility for the East Harlem Tutorial Program, a non-profit organization that serves public school students with the mission of increasing the college graduation rate in East Harlem.
