NEW YORK – Nov. 15, 2022 – Barbara T. Kaplan, co-chair of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Global Tax Practice, will present at the 2022 New England IRS Representation Conference taking place Nov. 17-18.
Kaplan will present on a panel titled “Confessions of a Tax Evader: Resolving Criminal Tax Cases with Guilty Pleas” Nov. 18 at 4 p.m. According to the conference website, the panel will examine some of the considerations that go into deciding whether a taxpayer should plead guilty and the techniques for negotiating the plea. The panel will also review the impact of tax loss and why the role of the Kovel accountant is so critical.
Kaplan, named “Lawyer of the Year,” Litigation and Controversy – Tax, New York City, 2020 by Best Lawyers in America and named to the “top 50 women lawyers in New York City” list by Super Lawyers magazine, focuses her tax litigation practice on domestic and foreign corporations, partnerships, and individuals in federal, state, and local tax examinations, controversies, and litigation, including administrative and grand jury criminal tax investigations.
