Greenberg Traurig’s Richard C. Kim Named Among Crain’s New York’s ‘Notable Asian Leaders’

NEW YORK – Dec. 19, 2022 – Richard C. Kim, co-chair of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Global Finance Practice and co-chair of the New York Corporate Practice, was honored by Crain’s New York Business on its “2022 Notable Asian Leaders” list. Honorees are selected for their success and accomplishments during the last 18 months and their ability to effect change in their career, according to the publication.

“I was the first person in my family to become a lawyer and I was always encouraged by the support of others in the Asian American community. I make it a goal to pay it forward in all aspects of my life, and I am grateful to Crain’s New York for its focus on recognizing diverse leaders,” Kim said.

Kim also serves as the co-hiring chair and co-career development liaison for Greenberg Traurig’s New York office and as such, he coordinates the office’s summer associate program. His involvement with the future of the legal profession also includes participation in mentoring programs organized by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association and the Korean American Lawyers Association of Greater New York and mentoring Asian American law students at his alma mater, the University of Michigan Law School. In addition, Kim is a member of Greenberg Traurig’s Asian American Affinity Group, which hosts programs addressing the legal needs of the region’s Asian American community.

Kim enjoys a robust practice, having led several significant transactions including the acquisition financing for a consortium led by Korean private equity fund SJL Partners LLC in its approximately $3.1 billion acquisition of MPM Holdings, a New York based silicones and advanced materials company. At the time, it was considered the largest Korean cross-border private equity acquisition.

Recently, Kim, acting as lead attorney, represented PWCC Marketplace in connection with its senior secured credit facilities in an amount up to $175 million. In addition, he represented Congruex Group with the refinancing of its senior secured credit facilities in connection with the acquisitions of Tower Engineering Solutions and Sorensen Companies.
