Yosbel Ibarra Named a ‘Champion for Change’ at the International Bar Association’s 2023 Annual Conference

MIAMI – Nov. 7, 2023 – Greenberg Traurig Miami office Co-Managing Shareholder Yosbel A. Ibarra was named as one of the ‘Male Champions for Change’ at the International Bar Association’s (IBA) 2023 Annual Conference on Oct. 31 in Paris.

The Male Champions for Change Initiative was created by the IBA Women Lawyers’ Committee (WLC), which aims to level the playing field in the legal profession, inspire leaders to work to achieve gender equity, and enhance the role of male champions as catalysts for change. Ibarra was one of ten ambassadors who are highly recognized male law firm and legal sector leaders from around the globe with a proven track record of promoting the goal of achieving gender equity in the legal profession.

As the world’s leading international organization of legal practitioners, bar associations, law societies, law firms and in-house legal teams, the IBA influences the development of international law reform and shapes the future of the legal profession throughout the world. It has a membership of more than 80,000 lawyers, 190 bar associations and law societies and 200 group member law firms, spanning over 170 countries, according to the IBA’s website.

“As a law firm leader, my most important job is to ensure the success of every member of our team, so working with purpose to create gender equity in our male-dominated profession is a critical part of those efforts,” said Ibarra. “I am incredibly honored to work alongside the WLC in continuing to champion for change.”

As co-managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami office, Ibarra oversees approximately 200 attorneys and 200 business staff members. A former co-chair of the firm’s Latin America Practice, he regularly advises multinational corporations and prominent Latin American investors on international corporate transactions, including investments, acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures throughout Latin America and the United States.

Ibarra has been recognized by leading publications, such as The Legal 500 Latin America Guide, Chambers and Partners and The M&A Advisor, for his 25 years of experience representing clients on cross-border matters. He is vice chair of Amigos for Kids; chairman of Mosaic Miami (formerly MCCJ); a member of the Adrienne Arsht Center Trust board of directors; a member of the Law360 Florida Editorial Advisory Board; an officer of the Law Firm Management Committee of the International Bar Association; and a board member for the Council of the Americas.
