Bill Stark and Steven Walkowiak Named 2019 Texas Trailblazers

DALLAS – Oct. 2, 2019 –Bill Stark and Steven V. Walkowiak, shareholders in the Dallas office of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP, were recognized as 2019 Texas Trailblazers by Texas Lawyer for launching one of the first video game and esports practices at a major U.S. law firm.

Stark and Walkowiak created Greenberg Traurig’s Video Games & Esports Practice after witnessing how underserved the competitive video gaming industry was within the traditional legal market. Today, the practice has grown to include an international group devoted to the rapidly converging worlds of video games, esports (competitive video gaming), virtual and augmented reality, entertainment, mobile media, music, and social networking.

Greenberg Traurig remains one of the few law firms with this integrated expertise.

“There is no question Steve and Bill are true trailblazers,” said Mary-Olga Lovett, Senior Vice President of Greenberg Traurig and the Co-Regional Operating Shareholder of the firm’s Texas offices. “Thanks to their foresight, Greenberg Traurig is uniquely positioned to represent clients in this new sector—which is changing at literally light speed—in a strategic, comprehensive manner that is unmatched by any other firm.”

Each year, Texas Lawyer honors legal professionals who have made significant marks on a practice, policy, or technological advancement. The full list of 2019 Texas Trailblazers will be featured in the October/November 2019 issue of Texas Lawyer.
