Raquel S. Lord focuses her practice on employment matters. She represents an array of clients, including those from the health care, financial services, package delivery, and retail industries.   • Represented international delivery/logistics company in purported class and collective actions alleging violations of the FLSA and New York Labor Law; plaintiffs sought alleged unpaid wages, including overtime, as a result of, among other things, allegedly working off-the-clock and employer’s policy of deducting lunch and meal breaks each day.
  • Represented international retailer in lawsuit alleging age, pregnancy, and disability discrimination and retaliation in violation of New York State law and New York City ordinances, as well as violation of the FMLA.
  • Represented national childcare center franchise in multi-plaintiff litigation; plaintiffs alleged discrimination and retaliation in violation of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
  • Obtained summary disposition and final award on behalf of international wireless carrier in arbitration; plaintiff alleged a hostile work environment, retaliation, violation of the FMLA, and wrongful termination.
  • Defended international drug development, delivery and supply company against claims by purported whistleblower alleging violations of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 and the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
  • Defended furniture wholesaler against claims of age discrimination by an independent contractor under an infrequently-used provision of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination that prohibits discrimination in the conduct of business and the making of contracts.
  • Represented international investment bank in lawsuit alleging race and gender discrimination and retaliation under federal law and New York City Human Rights Law.
  • Defended health care organization in multi-plaintiff litigation; plaintiffs alleged to have suffered a racially hostile work environment in violation of the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination.
