Colleen A. Murphy has over 24 years of experience in bankruptcy and public finance. She represents mutual fund companies, investment advisory firms, and other institutional investors in connection with their investments in tax-exempt securities, both new money and workout transactions. Colleen advises clients with respect to the purchase of high yield municipal bonds for hospitals, charter schools, solid waste facilities and senior living facilities among other sectors.

Colleen has wide-ranging experience with charter school restructurings and sales across the country. In addition, she is well-versed on Chapter 11 proceedings and advises clients on reorganization, liquidation and acquisition strategies.

Experience

  • Led team representing trustee and bondholders in workout of $150 million in bonds for a healthcare system in West Virginia including possible sale.°
  • Negotiated restructuring of $52 million in bonds for a senior living facility in Texas as well as a bankruptcy process to resolve construction litigation.
  • Represented trustee and bondholders in sales and restructurings of landfills in Alabama and Ohio.
  • Advised bondholders in purchase of bonds for a continuing care retirement community, including subsequent issuances for new development, and through bankruptcy of the guarantor.
