Micala Campbell Robinson focuses on employment discrimination and wrongful discharge arising under state and federal laws, including Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the New York State Human Rights Law, the New York City Human Rights Law and the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination. She represents an array of clients, including those from the transportation and pharmaceutical industries. She has defended employers before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state fair employment practice agencies. Micala also has experience in breach of contract and related tort actions, consulting agreements, restrictive covenants, and trade secret litigation.

In addition, Micala counsels clients on a number of employment matters, including wage and hour compliance, sexual harassment training, internal investigations, use of criminal background checks in employment decisions, and employment-based immigration.

  • Second-chaired jury trial in New Jersey Superior Court, securing a unanimous verdict on behalf of major package delivery company in case alleging failure to accommodate.
  • Achieved summary judgment in overtime pay class action on behalf of medical device manufacturer who was alleged to be a joint employer of workers provided by a staffing agency.
  • Obtained summary judgment (affirmed on appeal) in a case alleging age discrimination against an employer in New York federal court.
  • Represented employers in wage and hour litigation.
  • Secured favorable outcome at arbitration in case alleging sexual orientation discrimination and retaliation against corporate and executive clients.
  • Obtained summary judgment in cases alleging race, gender, and disability discrimination against employers in New York and New Jersey federal courts.
  • Obtained summary judgment (affirmed on appeal) in a case alleging race and gender discrimination against an employer in New Jersey state court.
  • Represented employer and obtained dismissal of a workers’ compensation retaliation case in New York.
  • Obtained dismissals and findings of “no probable cause” in multiple cases alleging race, age, gender and disability discrimination filed with the EEOC and New York State Division of Human Rights.
  • Assisted corporate clients in obtaining temporary work authorizations and/or permanent residence for foreign workers.
  • As co-counsel, obtained asylum on behalf of a pro bono client.
