Joel Tasca is an experienced commercial litigator who represents businesses of all sizes—as well as individuals—in a broad range of areas, including, among others, consumer financial services, corporate governance, securities, and complex judgment collection. Joel is admitted to practice in Nevada, California, and Pennsylvania, and he has handled litigation in state and federal courts throughout the country. Joel also routinely arbitrates cases before the American Arbitration Association and JAMS.

In the area of consumer financial services, Joel has deep experience defending a wide range of financial institutions—including banks, mortgage servicers, fintech companies, and small-dollar lenders—in both class actions and individual lawsuits, as well as in arbitration. These matters often involve federal consumer protection statutes such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act, the Telephone Consumer Protection Act, the Truth in Lending Act, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, as well as state laws governing unfair, deceptive, or abusive acts and practices. For many consumer financial services clients, Joel acts as national litigation counsel, assisting clients manage large portfolios of litigation and arbitration around the country. Joel also regularly advises these clients on compliance strategies and risk mitigation to help reduce exposure to consumer claims.

Joel also regularly handles corporate governance litigation. As businesses increasingly incorporate in Nevada, corporate governance disputes involving Nevada law have risen. Joel has litigated governance disputes involving both publicly-traded and privately-held corporations, often in the Eighth Judicial District Court’s Business Court. Joel has represented both company management and significant shareholders in these cases.

In every type of case, Joel’s approach is pragmatic. He learns his client’s goals at the outset, and he then develops a strategy with his client to pursue those goals as efficiently as possible.
