Greenberg Traurig Shareholder Ana C. Montalbán Named to Committee of Seventy Board of Directors

PHILADELPHIA – Jan. 18, 2022 – The incoming board of directors for one of the region’s oldest nonprofits focused on good government now includes Shareholder Ana C. Montalbán of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP.

The Committee of Seventy (C70) unanimously voted for Montalbán, a member of the firm’s Public Finance and Infrastructure Practice, to join the board. She holds a three-year term.

Since its establishment in 1904, C70 has focused on increasing strong ethical governance, public policy, civic education, and engagement for Philadelphia and across Pennsylvania.

“Ana brings thoughtful, empathetic, and practical insights to all of her engagements and her passion for elevating civility and participation in democracy for all will benefit the Committee of Seventy’s work,” said Curtis B. Toll, managing shareholder of Greenberg Traurig’s Philadelphia office. “As someone from a bilingual community and immigrant roots, Ana will further amplify the voices of many in this city of diverse backgrounds.

“All of us living and working here want and need to be able to make educated choices about how we are governed. We at Greenberg Traurig are proud that Ana will be able to lend her talents and contribute to this critical organization,” Toll added.

Montalbán grew up in Miami as a first-generation Nicaraguan-American, but adopted Philadelphia as home, holding undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in South Philadelphia and routinely engages in pro bono service alongside her robust nationwide practice.

“For me, voting is such an important, declarative act and being able to help people throughout Philadelphia understand their eligibility, the impact of the profound civic act of participating in governance, and the issues affecting them and their neighbors fills me with incredible pride,” Montalbán said. “Helping to lead in deepening responsible engagement in our democracy and thoughtful participation in our community is empowering and something I am excited to model for my daughters and for women everywhere.”

C70 President and CEO Al Schmidt further endorsed those thoughts.

“We're thrilled to have Ana join the Committee of Seventy's leadership,” Schmidt said. “We're confident that her perspective and expertise will benefit our work and the people we serve for years to come."
