Greenberg Traurig’s Libretta Stennes and Deepi K. Miller to Speak at ABA Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Conference

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – March 30, 2022 – Libretta Stennes, a shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Minneapolis office, and Deepi K. Miller, an of counsel in the firm’s Sacramento office, will speak at the American Bar Association (ABA) 30th Annual Toxic Torts and Environmental Law Conference taking place April 7-9.   

The conference, hosted by the ABA Tort Trial and Insurance Practice Section, will highlight recent national trends in talc and asbestos litigation and benzene and per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) matters, and will discuss future COVID-19 litigation, according to its website.

Stennes will moderate and Miller will speak on the panel titled “PFAS: Navigating the Water Twenty Years Later,” which will review the science behind toxic torts, strategies to engage stakeholders, mitigating liability, market pressure, and PFAS regulations.

Stennes has over 25 years of experience litigating high profile toxic tort, mass tort, and products liability matters, including groundbreaking cases shaping trends in class actions and emerging contaminants. Her cases often involve health and safety issues facing global scrutiny, bans, or recalls in highly regulated industries such as chemical manufacturing, pharmaceutical and medical device, agribusiness, and infant products. Stennes has substantial experience in corporate crisis management for matters involving reputational threats, market exit, supply chain disruption, catastrophic accidents, widespread contamination, and chemical exposure safety.

Miller is a regulatory attorney and business litigator who represents clients in all phases of regulatory enforcement litigation, regulatory compliance, and commercial litigation. She advises and defends local and national clients in the apparel, cosmetics, jewelry, food and beverage, supplement, and recycling industries, among others, on California-specific consumer safety regulations, including Proposition 65. Miller’s practice includes litigation and counseling under environmental and consumer protection laws involving private party plaintiffs and governmental enforcement agencies, including the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment, California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery, California Environmental Protection Agency, California Air Resources Board, California Public Utilities Commission, and California Energy Commission, among others.
