Greenberg Traurig Miami Further Expands Litigation Practice with Addition of A. Sheila Oretsky

MIAMI – Feb. 22, 2023 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A. has added A. Sheila Oretsky  as part of the continued strategic expansion of its award-winning Miami Litigation Practice. Oretsky joins the firm from Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, PC, where she was co-chair of its Class Action Litigation Practice.

At Greenberg Traurig, Oretsky represents clients in high-profile complex commercial litigation matters across a range of industries. She regularly advises on highly contentious complex matters related to defamation, civil fraud, civil theft, fiduciary claims, non-competes and trade secrets, partnership disputes, post mergers and acquisitions (M&A) disputes, breach of contract, civil RICO Act violations, EB-5 related litigation, commercial foreclosures, and other real estate related litigation.

Her experience includes representations related to disputes stemming from international M&A, gaming industry operations, and real estate landlord/tenant disputes on behalf of publicly traded national retailers.

“It is a true pleasure to welcome Sheila, a highly-skilled and versatile trial lawyer, to Greenberg Traurig,” said Jaret L. Davis and Yosbel A. Ibarra, co-managing shareholders of the Miami office, in a joint statement. “Her track record of impressive courtroom victories demonstrates that she shares our strong commitment to client service, collaboration, and legal excellence.”

Oretsky litigates matters in federal and state courts across the country, as well as in arbitrations including international arbitrations before the International Chamber of Commerce. Her practice also includes regularly serving as a testifying attorneys’ fees expert and a judicially appointed special master.

“With Sheila’s strong representation of clients in numerous industries and reputation for tenacious, zealous, and distinctly strategic advocacy, she brings tremendous value to every matter she handles and to the team overall,” said Brigid F. Cech Samole and Michael N. Kreitzer, co-chairs of Greenberg Traurig’s Miami Litigation Practice, in a joint statement. “Her arrival illustrates our continued commitment to attracting best-in-class litigators to meet the demands of our clients, who are seeking experienced trial attorneys to handle sophisticated litigation matters.”

Oretsky has handled numerous high-profile matters, including representation of a prominent social media platform in a defamation lawsuit; representation of a national retailer in a landlord tenant/real estate dispute; and representation of a prominent documentary film company in a film credit dispute.

“Joining Greenberg Traurig is a tremendous opportunity to serve my clients at the highest level and grow my practice exponentially, especially by taking advantage of the firm’s global platform,” Oretsky said. “This competitive edge, coupled with the firm’s culture of collaboration, is extremely important to me as my client work has become increasingly international, with arbitration matters that span the globe.”

Active in both the legal community and the community at large, Oretsky chairs The Florida Bar Association’s Judicial Nominating Procedures Committee and the Grievance Committee. She has been a member of the Miami Beach Chamber of Commerce Board of Governors since 2018 and served on The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Suncoast Chapter Board of Governors from 2019-2023. Oretsky has also served on the Board of Directors of Lotus House, a shelter for women and children, since 2019.

With a strong commitment to pro bono, Oretsky has served as a judicially appointed pro bono Guardian ad Litem for minor children in custody disputes.

She received her J.D. from Florida International University College of Law, and an M.A. and a B.A. with Honors from the University of Florida. Oretsky is native/conversational in Farsi and conversational in Spanish.
