David R. Eastlake to Serve as State Bar of Texas’ Bankruptcy Law Section Chair-Elect

HOUSTON – June 27, 2023 – David R. Eastlake, a Restructuring & Bankruptcy Practice shareholder in global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Houston office, has been elected chair-elect of the State Bar of Texas' Bankruptcy Law Section.

Eastlake will begin his year-long term as chair-elect July 2023 and will take over as chair of the section in July 2024. Prior to the election, Eastlake served terms as treasurer and secretary. He was also previously the chair and vice-chair of the section’s young lawyers committee. An active member of the section for over 10 years, Eastlake has served on the executive council since 2019.

The Bankruptcy Law Section’s mission is to provide an opportunity for bankruptcy law practitioners licensed in Texas to meet and exchange ideas and information regularly, including practitioners in both the consumer and business bankruptcy fields, for those who represent creditors and debtors, and those who live in any region.

Eastlake focuses his practice primarily on representation of debtors in possession, official and ad hoc committees, significant creditors, and secured lenders in complex Chapter 11 reorganization cases, Chapter 7 liquidations, out-of-court restructurings, and commercial and bankruptcy-related litigation matters. His experience includes representing purchasers and sellers of assets of Chapter 11 debtors and financially distressed companies, negotiating debtor in possession financing, and drafting reorganization plans and disclosure statements. In addition, Eastlake has experience in corporate transactions and corporate governance, including commercial financings, oil and gas transactions, and other general corporate matters. In such matters, Eastlake is a trusted advisor to clients and draws upon his broad experience to craft creative and practical solutions and garner the consensus required to implement those solutions. His representations have ranged across a wide array of industries, including energy, oil and gas, retail, manufacturing, food and beverage, real estate, financial services, health care, telecommunication, and cable.
