SINGAPORE – Oct. 28, 2026 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig, LLP’s Asia Real Estate Practice Chair Joel H. Rothstein and Middle East and European Hospitality Group Co-Chair Elias J. Hayek participated in the Hotel Investment Conference Asia Pacific (HICAP) 2026, held Oct. 20-22 in Singapore. Greenberg Traurig was a sponsor of the conference.
Rothstein, based in the firm’s Tokyo office, and Hayek, based in the Dubai office, joined hotel owners, investors, developers, operators, lenders, and advisers from across the Asia-Pacific region to examine the capital flows, deal dynamics, and investment strategies shaping the hospitality industry.
Rothstein organized and moderated “China Investment Insights,” a session that examined current trends, challenges, and opportunities involving the greater China hospitality sector, including Hong Kong. He led a panel discussion with leading experts assessing current market trends and future opportunities for Asia’s largest hotel market by number of properties and revenue. Rothstein brings more than 25 years of experience in Asia, where he advises investment banks, private equity funds, sovereign wealth funds, developers, and investors on cross-border real estate transactions, including hotel and resort acquisitions, joint ventures, and financings.
Hayek spoke on the panel “Acquisitions: Hospitality vs. Real Estate — Is the Yield Premium Still There?” The discussion explored how investors, developers, and owner-operators evaluate hospitality investments relative to other real estate asset classes, including whether hotels continue to command a yield premium and which factors drive investment decisions in today’s market. Hayek has closed more than 500 hospitality transactions in more than 45 cities across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.
Together, the two sessions reflected Greenberg Traurig’s cross-border approach to hospitality and real estate, which connects attorneys across Asia, the Middle East, and Europe to help clients evaluate opportunities, structure investments, and execute transactions in key markets worldwide.
Now in its 36th year, HICAP is one of Asia Pacific’s leading annual hotel investment conferences, convening industry leaders to explore investment opportunities, exchange ideas, and discuss the trends shaping the hospitality and tourism sectors.
