Nathan D. Banks is a Data Privacy & Cybersecurity associate in Greenberg Traurig's San Francisco office. Nathan advises clients on a broad range of data protection and cybersecurity matters, including global cross-border compliance, artificial intelligence, product counseling, cookies and AdTech, regulatory investigations, ransomware incidents, and corporate transactions. Nathan's experience includes developing a global AI regulation tracker, structuring compliance programs for cross-border data transfers, advising on pre-breach planning, drafting targeted advertising opt-out notices, and counseling on COPPA safety carve-outs.

Nathan’s practice focuses on compliance with evolving privacy and data protection laws, including U.S. federal and state privacy statutes, the European Union General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and ePrivacy Directive, the UK GDPR and UK Data Protection Act 2018, and other international regimes. Nathan regularly advises clients navigating complex, multi-jurisdictional compliance challenges in highly regulated industries, aligning global privacy strategies across diverse legal, cultural, and operational environments.

In addition to privacy counseling, Nathan litigates intellectual property disputes, complex commercial matters, and class actions involving privacy, crypto, AI, patents, copyright, trademarks, trade secrets, and other emerging technology issues in federal and state courts. Nathan brings a deep understanding of rapidly changing technology and regulatory landscapes to develop litigation strategies that protect client innovation and mitigate business risk.
