Karen Bray has deep experience defending complex products liability actions in federal and state courts around the country. Karen has played an integral role in developing and implementing strategies that resulted in defense verdicts in several complex liability cases. She has served as trial counsel, and has led and coordinated trial teams from the inception of an action to verdict and appeal. Karen has wide-ranging experience in the development of expert witnesses in various scientific and professional fields, including medicine, economics, damages, design, and social history. Karen also regularly litigates a wide range of commercial litigation matters, in both court and arbitral fora.

Karen has played a substantial role in developing training programs for clients and counsel on all aspects of litigation practice including deposition strategies, opening and closing strategies, expert development, jury selection, and overall pre-trial and trial coordination in complex multi-defendant cases.

Karen is actively involved in the firm’s in-house litigation training programs, is the Co-Career Development Liaison for the New York office, and the Assigning Shareholder in the Litigation Department. Karen is also actively involved in the firm’s community service efforts, as well as a member of the firm’s Green Team, which was developed to cultivate a firm-wide culture of conservation and responsibility for resource-use.

  • Counseled manufacturers in foreign jurisdictions, including the United Kingdom and Australia, with respect to product liability defense issues based on U.S. product liability litigation.
  • Defense of a complex product liability case involving claims for fraud, strict liability, negligence, breach of warranty, conspiracy, unfair trade practices and violation of consumer protection law.
  • Appellate practice in the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit and the New York Appellate Division, Second Department.
