Jordan Grotzinger is Co-Chair of the Los Angeles Litigation Practice and a business trial lawyer. He represents companies in complex commercial litigation, including class actions involving consumer products and services and claims alleging false advertising and unfair competition. He also represents clients in the entertainment and real estate industries, as well as others, in various disputes. Jordan has tried cases to juries, judges and arbitrators, obtained many favorable results before significant trial preparation costs were incurred, and negotiated several very favorable settlements.

  • Represented prominent rock music group in arbitration regarding royalty dispute with former band member.

  • Defeated class certification in actions alleging violations of California consumer protection statutes and breach of contract against sound recording school.
  • Trial counsel for publicly-owned NASCAR licensee with breach of fiduciary duty and fraud claims against former president of client's subsidiary; obtained seven-figure jury verdict.
  • Hired by major online poker company months into litigation and weeks before trial in federal court; within approximately three weeks had entire case dismissed before trial on subject matter jurisdiction grounds that had not been previously raised.
  • Obtained preliminary injunction preventing managing partner of partnership with multimillion-dollar real estate portfolio from taking distributions without making concurrent distributions to non-managing partner (client). Injunction affirmed in full on appeal and case settled, with managing partner reimbursing client for legal fees, agreeing to permanent injunction terms, and dismissing managing partner's cross claims for $0.
  • Defended bank in lawsuit by internet vendor seeking eight figures in damages based on bank's credit card processing. After extensive litigation but before significant trial preparation, negotiated settlement for 1% of vendor's demand.
  • Obtained appointment of receiver over cable television business pledged as collateral for loan made by client.
  • On behalf of lender, obtained appointment of receiver over major commercial property after default on nine-figure construction loan; defeated borrower's cross-motion for preliminary injunction.
  • Assisted in defense of entity owned by public company in regulatory action brought by State of California, resulting in trial victory declaring the challenged state action "null and void" and "invalid."
  • Represented prominent baseball player agent in contract dispute.
  • Obtained dismissal with prejudice of national putative class action against dietary supplement company and celebrity endorser at pleading stage.
  • Defended publicly held company in class actions alleging false advertising and consumer fraud.
  • Obtained dismissal with prejudice of consumer fraud claims under the California Education Code in class actions against educational institutions.
