Robert “Bobby” Kane III is a litigation shareholder in the firm’s West Palm Beach office. Kane is a trial lawyer who focuses his complex commercial litigation practice on products liability, real estate matters and construction defects. Kane represents large institutional clients, real estate developers, commercial property owners, shopping centers, high-net-worth individuals, and a wide variety of businesses through contract disputes and issues, association/turnover disputes, real estate disputes, employment disputes, business torts, and insurance matters.

Prior to joining Greenberg Traurig, Kane was a student-athlete at the University of Florida where he obtained his degrees and was part of two college football national championship teams with the Florida Gators.

Kane’s national products liability work is focused on medical devices, pharmaceuticals, and a wide variety of consumer, industrial and technical products. He represents both manufacturers and retailers in complex matters in both federal and state courts across the country, including mass torts and multidistrict litigation.

In the construction and real estate industry, Kane represents developers, hoteliers, and a wide variety of businesses through construction defects, association/turnover disputes, and real estate development disputes.

Kane also has broad experience handling general commercial litigation matters in high stakes “bet the company” litigation. Kane’s client representation includes counseling clients pre-suit to reach sensible business resolutions, as well as litigating on their behalf in state and federal courts and alternative dispute resolution forums. He is a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit and County Court Mediator. Kane also serves on the Palm Beach County Bar Association Circuit Civil Practice Committee which advises the court regarding improvements to the local practice and to assist with community outreach.

  • Defending a medical device manufacturer in all phases of its ongoing multidistrict products liability litigation concerning its pelvic mesh products (MDL 2187, In Re: C. R. Bard, Inc. Pelvic Repair Sys. Prods. Liab. Litig., S.D.W. Va.), including cases within the MDL, the New Jersey MCL, individual cases remanded for trial in their originating states, and newly filed cases in various district courts since closure of the MDL.
  • Defending a Fortune 500 multinational corporation in a wide variety of consumer products liability matters.
  • Defending the largest home improvement retailer in the United States against claims that it sold a defective product.
  • Represented a large fair and ride owner/operator against product defect claims and resulting personal injury claims.
  • Represented the largest privately-owned residential and commercial real estate firm in the United States with over $60 billion in assets owned or under development in various construction defect, real estate, and business matters.
  • Represented high-net-worth individuals in various construction defect matters at their homes on Palm Beach island.
  • Represented one of the largest luxury home developers in Florida in a turnover dispute involving construction defects and financial claims. Obtained summary judgment in favor of the Developer on the financial claims totaling more than $850,000.00 on a matter of first impression that was affirmed by the Fourth District Court of Appeals which resulted in a favorable settlement for the client on the construction claims.
  • Represented large hotel developer in all aspects of the purchase of oceanfront cooperative hotel in Palm Beach, including real estate transactions and disputes, corporate issues, and resulting litigation.
  • Defended luxury Palm Beach condominium-hotel in various financial, real estate, association, and construction defect matters.
  • Represented large developer in dispute with the City of Virginia Beach involving the construction of a $200-million-dollar sports and entertainment arena.
  • Defended luxury Palm Beach condominium-hotel in federal court against Fair Labor Standards Act claim asserted by a former employee for unpaid wages and overtime compensation.
  • Defended large Boca Raton real estate developer against claims of hostile work environment, sexual harassment, quid pro quo, violations of the Florida Civil Rights Act, retaliation, and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
  • Defeated founding shareholder’s claims seeking millions of dollars and entitlement to shares in privately held pharmaceutical company and prevailing on summary judgment in favor of the pharmaceutical company in federal court.
  • Represented global natural products company and its founder/CEO against multi-million-dollar contract, fraud, and tort claims.
  • Defended Luxury Miami Hotel against price gouging and unfair trade practice claims brought by the Florida Attorney General following Hurricane Irma.
  • Defended large spirits and consumer goods businesses and officer against multi-million-dollar contract, fraud, and tort claims following a $52-million-dollar sale of assets.
  • Resolved matters for closely held corporations involving shareholder and internal disputes.
