Greenberg Traurig Wins Second Annual Law Rocks Miami in Support of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami

MIAMI – Nov. 14, 2023 – For the second consecutive year, the house band of global law firm Greenberg Traurig, P.A., The Meltones, won the annual Law Rocks Miami battle of the bands, raising over $52,000 in donations, a majority of which will go to support Big Brothers Big Sisters (BBBS).

Greenberg Traurig has been a long-time supporter of BBBS in Miami for more than 20 years.

“We would like to thank the legal community for always supporting what’s important to Miami, which includes Big Brothers Big Sisters, one of our community’s greatest organizations. These funds will go toward helping them continue to reach more of our young people from underprivileged backgrounds, providing them a mentor to help them achieve their goals,” said Senior Chairman Matthew B. Gorson, who introduced The Meltones to the stage along with Miami office Co-Managing Shareholder Jaret L. Davis.

After rocking the stage with high energy tunes, The Meltones emerged as the overall winning band based on sponsorship dollars raised, ticket sales, and judges’ score, winning all three categories of the night. The largest share of the total $67,000 raised via the Law Rocks Miami event also came from Greenberg Traurig’s donations.

Members of The Meltones band in Miami included three attorneys from the Miami office: Real Estate Shareholder Burt Bruton, one of the original Meltones members, on guitar and vocals; Litigation  Shareholder Jessica Johnson Fishfeld on vocals; and Miami Real Estate Associate Josh Tartell on guitar. They were backed by three local Miami musicians: Larry Misrahi on bass and vocals, Noel Cleland on keyboards, and Joe Arencibia on drums.

Law Rocks Global promotes music education for underprivileged youth and raises money for local nonprofit organizations. The Meltones, named after a firm founder Mel Greenberg, has been the Greenberg Traurig “house band” since the mid-1980s.

In late October, The Meltones also won their 8th consecutive title in Law Rocks New York, raising more than $100,000 in sponsorship and donations for East Harlem Tutorial Program/East Harlem Scholars Academies.
