Joseph W. Shaneyfelt is a member of the Litigation Practice in Greenberg Traurig's Austin office. He handles virtually all stages of litigation from initial pleadings to final judgement. Joseph has worked on dozens of high-stakes lawsuits through state and federal trial courts and has experience conducting full brief and motion practice, discovery, and trial preparation, as well as examining witnesses, representing clients in mediation, and participating in depositions, evidentiary hearings, voir dire, and oral argument. Joseph has experience in representing both plaintiffs and defendants across a wide array of cases including multidistrict litigation (MDL) and class actions. Prior to joining the firm, he represented the State of Texas, its agencies, and its elected officials as plaintiffs pursuing multi-million dollar claims on behalf of the State and as defendants from constitutional and statutory challenges. After law school, Joseph served as a law clerk to Judge Matthew J. Kacsmaryk of the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas. Joseph is also capable to advise, represent, and advocate for individuals and organizations under the U.S. Sentencing Commission’s Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
