Law Student Recruiting
Greenberg Traurig empowers lawyers at all levels to shape their own careers. Our law student recruiting program is designed to identify students who are eager to create their own opportunities and encourage them to seek areas of practice that excite them.
Summer Associate Program
Greenberg Traurig is honored to be recognized among the top 10 law firms on Law360 Pulse’s 2025 Summer Associate Survey of the Top 25 “Dream” Firms. This distinction underscores our dedication to cultivating an exceptional experience for law students, where innovation, collaboration, and inclusivity thrive.
Many of our current firm leaders started their careers as a summer associate at Greenberg Traurig. We provide summer associates varied professional opportunities to learn about our clients, our attorneys, our staff, our firm, and our culture. An important objective of the program is for summer associates to transition from law students to practicing lawyers and future leaders by including them on client matters. Our attorneys and attorney recruitment team are available to assist summer associates with their decisions from the very beginning of their legal careers.
The Summer Associate Program Includes:
- Day-to-day assignments, with direct shareholder contact, firm-wide training and orientation dedicated to our summer associates, coordinated by our Attorney Recruiting and Professional Development teams
- Two mentors: one associate and one shareholder
- Midsummer and end-of-summer review meetings with summer program leaders
- A variety of networking and social events and community outreach programs
- I chose to summer at GT because:
- “The firm cultivates an entrepreneurial environment in which summer associates can explore a broad range of practice areas.”
- “It offered the perfect balance between substantive legal experience and professional development.”
- “The attorneys and support staff made me feel valued as a person and a future lawyer from the moment we met. The mentorship opportunities, collegial atmosphere, and smaller class size were important factors influencing my decision, and I am so happy I made the right choice.”
- “The energy and culture immediately resonated with me. From my very first interview, I felt so welcomed, and everyone I met afterwards was so nice.”
- What was the highlight of your summer experience at GT?
- “The mentorship and support I received from the attorneys I worked with. Everyone, from associates to shareholders, was genuinely invested in helping me learn and succeed.”
- “The highlight of my summer was the opportunity to work on an incredibly diverse set of matters, from immigration and trade secrets to contract law. I was able to engage in meaningful, substantive work that was actually used by the teams I worked with, and I gained insight into the bigger picture of how my assignments fit into the client matter we were working on.”
- “The people. Everyone I spoke to, whether they were staff, legal support, associates, or shareholders, was happy to share advice, discuss their experiences, or just chat. Whether I had a specific question about an assignment or a broader question about navigating the “Big Law” career path, I knew I could turn to at least five people in the office. As a first-generation law student, this was the highlight of my experience, since I don’t have people in my personal life I can turn to for these kinds of questions.”
- “Assisting with an initial motion for summary judgment, helping bring that case through response and reply briefing, culminating in attending the oral argument hearing. It was great to see the process from initial filing to oral argument.”
- How would you describe GT’s culture?
- “Inclusive, authentic, and welcoming.”
- “GT’s culture is defined by collaboration, mentorship, and a genuine commitment to growth.”
- “GT felt like home within a short time, and I am excited to come back as an attorney this fall.”
- “Unique and authentic. Unique because of how much of a family the firm genuinely is, something that is special and hard to come by, and why it is not uncommon for individuals to spend the entirety of their careers there. Authentic because your very first interaction with GT and your most recent do not change — GT remains true to itself — allowing you to only get to know it better.”
