Our Amsterdam office advises clients through dedicated practice groups in Real Estate, Corporate/M&A, Litigation, Administrative Law, Tax, Finance & Restructuring, Labor & Employment, White Collar, Intellectual Property, and Civil-Law Notary services, including Corporate and Real Estate matters.
The Real Estate team at Greenberg Traurig consists of an experienced and dedicated group of specialists active across the full spectrum of the commercial real estate practice. The team works closely with colleagues in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States. In addition, they collaborate daily with colleagues from other practice groups in multidisciplinary teams, including Administrative Law, Corporate M&A, and Tax. The Corporate M&A Practice is a dynamic transactional practice group focusing on (international) acquisitions, investments, and joint ventures. The team guides clients throughout the entire process — from structuring and negotiations through closing — while giving you significant responsibility early on and involving you closely with clients and deal management.
Within the team, communication lines are short, and collaboration is intensive, both internally and with international colleagues, creating an open and engaged working environment. The work is varied and often takes place at a fast pace, making the ability to respond quickly essential. The team is characterized by a pragmatic, hands-on approach with plenty of room for initiative and professional development.
The Litigation Practice assists clients in often complex commercial and corporate disputes. The team supports clients throughout virtually every stage of a dispute: from strategic advice and negotiations to proceedings before courts, as well as arbitration, binding advice proceedings, and mediation.
Within the Litigation Practice, partners and associates work closely together. The work is varied, often international in scope, time-sensitive, and requires sharp analytical skills, being proactive and responsive, persuasive abilities, and creativity. The atmosphere is informal and collegial, with plenty of room for collaboration, humor, and a practical approach.
The notarial practice at Greenberg Traurig consists of a close-knit and experienced team of associates, (trainee) civil-law notaries, paralegals, and operations officers. The notarial practice is divided into the Corporate and Real Estate teams and works closely with the lawyers within these practice groups.

The Tax Practice advises national and international clients on complex tax matters under Dutch and international tax law and assists them with, among other things, complex transactions, restructurings, and tax disputes. The team also has specialized experience in international trade, customs and VAT matters, taxation of the digital economy, export controls, and sanctions regulations.
Since 2003, the Practice has been one of the core practices of our Amsterdam office and currently consists of a close-knit team of 11 experienced tax lawyers and tax advisors. Collaboration, a client-focused approach, and a commitment to excellence are central to the team’s culture. Due to the open and international nature of Dutch taxation, as well as the historically central role of the Amsterdam office within our global firm, our Amsterdam Tax Practice plays a key role in cooperation between our Tax practices located in other European offices, the Middle East, and North America.
The Finance & Restructuring Practice, led by Sabine Schoute, advises clients on a broad range of (often cross-border) financing and restructuring matters. The Practice covers syndicated and bilateral loans, leveraged and corporate finance, asset-backed lending, real estate finance, project finance for large-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects, complex restructurings, and workouts. The team assists companies, financial institutions, private equity firms, project developers, and real estate investors throughout the entire lifecycle of financing arrangements.
Sabine Schoute focuses primarily on leveraged finance transactions, asset-based lending transactions, and real estate financings. Thijs Elseman focuses in particular on corporate finance, insolvency matters, (distressed) restructurings, and capital markets financings. Jack Schrijver focuses on real estate finance and project finance for large-scale renewable energy and infrastructure projects.
The Practice has experience in workouts, insolvency matters, and WHOA restructuring proceedings and forms part of the multidisciplinary RE-STRUC team, where financing, restructuring, real estate, administrative law, and tax law are approached in an integrated manner.
The team works closely with colleagues across Europe, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The practice distinguishes itself through short communication lines, in-depth legal expertise, and a pragmatic, commercial, and client-focused approach with a strong international perspective.
The White Collar Defense & (Special) Investigations Practice advises and assists clients on a wide range of matters involving sanctions and export controls, compliance, integrity, anti-corruption, anti-money laundering, and environmental and safety incidents.
The team was established approximately two years ago and includes two leading partners with many years of experience across virtually all relevant legal areas and sectors. The team works closely with other practice groups on a daily basis and regularly collaborates with colleagues from other Greenberg Traurig offices in Europe, the United Kingdom, the United States, and other countries and regions worldwide.
The Intellectual Property Practice focuses on advising and litigating matters involving trademarks, trade names, copyrights, and designs. The team supports both national and international clients in protecting, enforcing, and strategically leveraging their intellectual property rights.
The team works closely together and offers plenty of opportunities for substantive discussions and individual responsibility. The work is legally challenging and varied. The team is characterized by camaraderie, teamwork, and a genuine passion for the profession.
The Labor & Employment Practice consists of two highly experienced and specialized employment lawyers. The team focuses on, among other things, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, works council matters, corporate governance, and strategic HR issues. In addition, the team advises on board member terminations, outsourcing and TUPE matters, compliance, and employee benefits.
The Practice is characterized by a combination of in-depth employment law expertise and a pragmatic, strategic approach. By working closely with other practice groups, the team can provide strategies that align with clients’ broader business strategies. Personal involvement, collaboration, and an international perspective are central to the practice.
Within the Administrative Law Practice, the team advises and represents clients in proceedings involving a wide range of matters relating to administrative law, environmental and planning law, real estate, sustainability, and energy law. The team advises government bodies, developers, investors, and companies on complex projects and proceedings, often at the intersection of public and private law. The Practice focuses primarily on Real Estate and Energy, with an emphasis on area development, industry, infrastructure, and the energy transition.
Within the team, communication lines are short and collaboration is intensive, both internally and with the Real Estate Practice and other practice groups. This enables the team to provide clients with integrated advice across all aspects of administrative and real estate law.
