Greenberg Traurig Advises REVO Hospitality Group on Cross-Border Insolvency Proceedings, Including Sale of More Than 150 Hotels to International Investors
BERLIN – Sept. 24, 2026 – Global law firm Greenberg Traurig is advising the REVO Hospitality Group on its cross-border self-administered insolvency proceedings, including the sale of more than 150 hotels. With the transfer of the hotels in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, and Italy to various international investors, one of the largest and most complex insolvency proceedings in the European hotel market in recent years is drawing to a close. The successful transactions have secured sustainable solutions for almost all 178 hotels, preserving the vast majority of approximately 5,450 jobs.
The buyers include several international hotel groups. The Indian PRISM Group is acquiring 29 hotels, and the Fattal Hotel Group is purchasing 22 properties, while additional hotels will be operated by Motel One, B&B Hotels, and Brown Hotels. Customized transaction solutions involving various investors and property owners were developed for numerous properties.
After the self-administered insolvency proceedings for 138 REVO Hospitality Group companies were filed in early 2026, GT Restructuring Partners Gordon Geiser and Benedikt de Bruyn were appointed as managing directors responsible for the group’s restructuring. With the support of a multidisciplinary, cross-border Greenberg Traurig team, they steered the insolvency proceedings for the group’s German, Dutch, and Austrian companies through the restructuring process.
The sale processes were preceded by an international market outreach conducted by investment bank Houlihan Lokey, which ran the investor process, generating active participation by more than 100 interested parties. The negotiated solutions are being implemented partly through insolvency plans and partly by way of asset deals.
The complex transactions required the coordination of the interests of hotel operators, property owners, brand owners, franchisors, employees, and creditors.
While the GT Restructuring team managed the implementation and operational handling of the numerous insolvency proceedings, Greenberg Traurig advised the REVO Hospitality Group on all legal aspects of the transactions. The advice included the structuring and negotiation of the transaction documentation as well as employment, data protection, and real estate law matters.
Background:
Alongside the sales in connection with the Signa Group’s insolvency, the REVO transactions are among the most significant cross-border insolvency-related mergers and acquisitions matters that Greenberg Traurig has handled in recent years. This marks the second time in a short period that the firm has advised on a large-scale, internationally oriented investor process in an insolvency context.
